  To determine the total cost of a spell, start with the mana cost or alternative cost you're paying (such as the alternative cost of Daze), add any cost increases, then apply any cost reductions. The mana value of the spell is determined by only its mana cost, no matter what the total cost to cast that spell was.

  Daze was banned in pauper on May 20, 2019. Daze allows these decks to spend more mana casting cantrips to set up their game plan without having "shields down" moments against other strategies. Daze and Gitaxian Probe tend to lead to less interactive gameplay, fewer shields-down moments, and less bluffing. Therefore, in order to weaken blue tempo decks without impacting the core cantrip-plus-Delver of Secrets gameplay, we are banning Gush, Daze, and Gitaxian Probe in Pauper.
