Sensei's Divining Top

• WWizards of the Coast2016-06-08
  Official Ruling
Sensei's Divining Top's second ability may be activated in response to its first ability. If so, you'll draw a card, put Sensei's Divining Top on top of your library, and then look at the top three cards and rearrange them.

  Official Ruling
If Sensei's Divining Top leaves the battlefield while its second ability is on the stack, you'll draw a card and leave Sensei's Divining Top in the zone it's moved to.

Sensei's Divining Top was banned in modern on February 3, 2015. Modern kicked off with a banned list that was created in large part based on Legacy play, the old Extended format, and decks played at the Community Cup that year. We are going to allow turn-four combination decks, but not decks that consistently win the game on turn three. Sensei's Divining Top was banned in legacy on April 24, 2017. Miracles, a deck focused on combining Counterbalance and Sensei's Divining Top, has been the best deck in the format for some time. The necessity of repeated Top activations slows down match play and leads to tournament delays. Coupled with the power of the Miracles deck, this is reason enough for us to take action on Top.
