- Wizards of the Coast2019-10-21Windswept Heath was banned in pioneer on October 21, 2019. Mana bases with fetch lands and shock lands are very strong and make playing three or four colors too easy. Decks can become more homogenous and the format becomes more defined by how many of the strongest cards players can squeeze into one deck. More constraints on mana bases add diversity to the format and make decks play differently from one another.Indexed from Announcing the Pioneer Format.
- Windswept Heath was banned in historic on December 4, 2023. We want the power level of Historic to continue to grow but don't want it to happen too quickly, as we believe it's in an enjoyable place right now. For these reasons, we have decided to pre-ban the Khans of Tarkir fetch lands from Historic.Indexed from Introducing Timeless, a new MTG Arena format.
